About the author

Hello! I am Akila Sridhar…so long I was tagged a homemaker, but now I am happy as a food blogger. I love cooking as well as exploring different food. My passion for cooking started at a very young age.

If I remember right, I started cooking in 4th grade when my mom had to leave to my native for an emergency and there was a strike in Coimbatore. I had no knowledge of cooking at that age. I just tried with what flavours I remembered tasting in my mom’s rasam.  All credits to my father who was a great motivator, and used to bear with whatever I make and he said it’s really great for my first rasam which had cinnamon as seasoning😊

My mom is a great cook. We often had surprise guests whom my father brought home just giving a short notice.  I used to admire her cooking a meal in just 30 to 40 minutes, but all the dishes used to taste at its best. In spite of all the cooking my mom kept her kitchen so clean which need a special mention. So, I was allowed to explore and learn from my grandma’s kitchen. Her hands have a magical flavours and authentic touch.

My initial ambition was to become an entrepreneur and start my own business. This unfortunately, didn’t happen. Ever since I’ve been wanting to start something on my own. When I was in US, the thought that I was sitting home even after my MBA, was totally depressing. So, I started clicking pictures of all the dishes I made. I wanted to publish this in a recipe book. This was me 10 yrs ago…

After returning to India with my 7 months old son, I was lost again. Then the idea of recipe BOOKS was lost too and writing everything seemed to be a painful task. So, I thought of putting it all in a blog, so I could make my content more accessible.

I kept expanding this idea, but I never actually typed out everything or created the blog until 2017. Even after that, I never actually published the blog. Then came the coronavirus lockdown. I became very frustrated during this period because of the additional chores, hectic schedule and the boredom of my kids. I thought I need to give time for me too. So, I decided I would somehow take the time to type my recipes and publish my blog…and here it is: delicious delicacies!

Me being a blogger today is totally because of the support and encouragement of my family even during this lock down. I would fail if I didn’t mention this - My daughter was and is a real motivator. She kept on saying I should publish my recipes and my son is a good taster so I get enough comments from both my son and husband.

On 24th April I was preparing paal kollukattai to celebrate my husband clearing an exam and my daughter was taking the video. That video picked up lot of noise from my friends who are real supporters. So, I thought of bringing my dream come true. Video was easy way to put it through I thought but won’t have someone to take video after lockdown.  So, All of a sudden, I jumped into my first post even before writing this page on the 24th April and today the 28th of may I’m so happy to post my 50th recipe with you all.

This blog not only makes me happy fulfilling my dream but also helps me concentrate leaving behind all my worries,  while I share my tales and treats with you. So, hope you enjoy making these dishes. And thanks for stopping by to say hi to me😊
