Chilli Idly
One of my daughter's favourite dishes which I made today. So I thought of sharing the same recipe with you all so that you can make this simple dish for your kids at home during lock-down too. This dish is very colourful and appealing so the kids will not deny it. It doesn't require any side-dish but at the same time it has enough veges in it too. So here is the recipe:
Preparation time:
15 minutes
Serves 2
Ingredients:
idly-4 nos.
corn flour-1 tbsp.
oil to fry
salt to taste
green chili-1 no.
green chili sauce- 2 tbsp.
red chili sauce- 2 tbsp.
tomato ketchup-3 tbsp.
vinegar-2teaspoon
soya sauce-2 teaspoons
onion-1 big
capsicum-1 big
garlic-4 to 5 cloves
ginger-1 inch piece
pepper powder-1 tbsp.
chili flakes-1/2 tbsp.
curry leaves-1 sprig
Preparation:
Cut the idlies into cubes and add corn flour to it. Mix it so that it coats the idlies.
Heat the oil in a kadai, when its hot fry the idlies...few at a time until they are crispy.
Remove the fried idlies from oil and drain the excess oil in a paper towel.
In a non-stick pan, add 2 tbsp oil ,when its hot reduce it to medium flame and add minced ginger and garlic, fry till the raw smell goes.
Wash and chop the onion and capsicum into small cubes.
Add the onions and capsicum, fry slightly so that the veges are still crunchy.
Now add all other ingredients and cook for a few minutes.
Finally add the roasted idly, mix thoroughly and your chili idly is ready to be served.
You can alter the spice as per your taste by adjusting the chili sauce.
You can also garnish it with cheese as soon as you remove it from the stove so that the cheese will melt and kids will like it.
Since its lock-down I didn't have few of the ingredients handy so i managed to prepare it with what I had so the ingredients picture is just for guidance.
I will post more pics when i do it next time -soon.
