Chicken Manchurian
Preperation time:40 mins.
Serves 5
Ingredients:
Chicken-1/2 kg.(clean and cut)
Oil to fry
Onion-1 big
Capsicum-1 med
Spring onions- 1/2 cup chopped
Ginger-1 tablespoon minced
Garlic-1 tablespoon minced
Tomato ketchup-2 tablespoons
Soy sauce- 3 teaspoons
Corn flour-2 tablespoons
Pepper-1 tablespoon
Ajinomoto-1 pinch(optional)
For marination:
Egg-1
Maida-5 tablespoons
Corn flour-2 tablespoon
Rice flour-1 tablespoon
Pepper-1 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Cooking soda-2 pinches
Ajinomoto-2 pinch(optional)
In a mixing bowl,add egg, maida ,corn flour, rice flour, salt to taste, pepper,cooking soda,ajinomoto and Add enough water and mix it to a idly batter consistency.
Now add the chicken into it and mix thoroughly and leave it to marinate for 20 mins.
In a kadai, heat the oil to fry. when it is hot, reduce it to medium flame and start adding the marinated chicken pieces in such a manner that the kadai is not too full.
In a non stick pan, add 2 tablespoons of oil and the finely chopped onions,capsicums and ginger garlic and fry for a few minutes till they are partially cooked.
Now add soy sauce, tomato ketchup,ajinomoto, salt and pepper to taste and stir for few seconds. then add spring onions and stir.
Now add the fried chicken pieces into this and mix thoroughly.
If you like it in the gravy form, in a bowl add two tablespoon corn flour and mix with little water and sprinkle it on top. stir it in low flame for a few minutes.
Your chicken manchurian is ready to be enjoyed either as a starter or a side dish for fried rice, pulau, or noodles!
Notes:
Ajinomto is totally optional, even without it you will get a good manchurian. This is just a flavour enhancer.
If the batter is too thin, it won't stick to your chicken. So see that its in a semi-solid consistency like porridge.
If you are preparing this for a party, you can fry the chicken before hand and keep it ready. When you are ready to serve, you can add it to the veges.
